Newsletter 2 Term 1

Dear Parents

We are already into the second month of 2007, with only six weeks left before the April holidays and the long awaited International Tour.

We would like to urge our pupils to really put their noses to the grindstone now that the Interhouse Athletics is behind us. There are only four weeks left before the High School starts with exams, and five weeks before the Senior Preparatory Phase’s exams. Although the Junior Preparatory pupils do not write exams, everything they do in class and at home will be counting towards their reports, which will be handed out on 9th March 2007— just 5 weeks from now.

AS Results—once again a 100% pass rate!!!!
We are extremely proud of our matric pupils from 2006. They have managed 15 A-symbols and 9 B-symbols amongst themselves, with 9 pupils qualifying for university exemption. Two of our pupils will be rewriting some subjects in June 2007 in order to qualify for university exemption as well.
Charl Duminy: 4 A-symbols
Tinet Vermaak: 3 A-symbols & 1 B-symbol
Lorraine Wilters: 3 A-symbols
Khaya Nhlapo: 2 A-symbols & 4 B-symbols
Sean Gu: 2 A-symbols & 1 B-symbol

IGCSE Results
We are also very proud of our Grade 10 pupils from 2006. They have managed 14 A+ symbols, 9 A-symbols and 5 B-symbols amongst themselves. Four of our pupils excelled:
Salóme Kok: 6 A+ symbols & 1 A-symbol
Kobie du Preez: 4 A+ symbols, 3 A-symbols & 1 B-symbol
Gerhard vd Walt: 3 A+ symbols, 2 A-symbols & 1 B-symbol
Lourike Geldenhuys: 1 A+ symbol, 2 A-symbols & 2 B-symbols

Interhouse Athletics
We really had a wonderful day, with the weather playing in our favour and our pupils doing the rest. We were pleasantly surprised with the results from many of our athletes. Congratulations to all our pupils who excelled at their individual events, and especially to those who managed to collect enough points to qualify as the top athletes of the school. The results were as follows:
Winning House: Fearless Saxons
Spirit Cup: Tartan Terrors
Senior Preparatory Victor Laudorum: O’Conner Smith
Victrix Laudorum: D’Morney Smith
High School Junior Victor Laudorum: JP Morkel

Athletics Meetings
Today the High School Athletes will be competing against Witbank Tech on their sport fields. We wish them all of the best.
On Saturday 10th February 2007 the Preparatory Phases will be competing against LCC, WCA and Tasbet Park at Tasbet Park. The event starts at 07h50 and should finish at 13h30. All our athletes will be taking part—all participants will receive an identification card during next week which must be taken to the event. We look forward to another fun filled sports day!
